The Ohio County coroner confirms that the flight instructor, Timothy McKellar Jr., 22, of Custer, Kentucky and the student pilot, Connor Quisenberry, 18, of Beavery Dam, Kentucky were pronounced dead at the scene.

Since then, the Kentucky State Police says that video from social media, allegedly showing the instructor and the student pilot preparing to take off and flying, is now under investigation.

KSP says the video is being reviewed by the Federal Aviation Administration, allegedly from McKellar Jr.’s Snapchat showing captions about the student pilot.

The Ohio County Sheriff’s Office says the plane left the Bowling Green Regional Airport at about 10:55 p.m., the same time a severe thunderstorm had developed in the area.

Ohio County authorities say that McKellar Jr. and Quisenberry were participating in a “touch and go” training flight Wednesday night from Bowling Green to Owensboro when a severe thunderstorm had developed in the area.

The Ohio County Sheriff’s Office says the plane went down in a heavily wooded area near Whitesville, Kentucky.

Search crews located the plane’s wreckage and two bodies Thursday morning.
