New Delhi : Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Parliament House on Tuesday in a meeting that is being seen as significant amid ongoing global developments.
Earlier in Parliament, PM Modi had expressed concern over the emerging energy crisis linked to the Israel–US–Iran conflict and called for greater cooperation from states. In this context, it is believed that the Chief Minister briefed the Prime Minister on the impact of global events on Rajasthan and the state government’s preparedness to deal with the situation.
This marks Bhajanlal Sharma’s second meeting with the Prime Minister within a month. The two leaders had last met on February 28 during PM Modi’s visit to Ajmer.
According to sources, the discussion also touched upon Rajasthan’s political situation, including the long-pending cabinet expansion and political appointments. Preparations for upcoming panchayat and urban local body elections were also reportedly discussed.
The state government is said to be keen on implementing the “One State, One Election” model, even as the High Court has set an April 15 deadline for conducting elections, failing which the government may face contempt proceedings. The Chief Minister is believed to have sought guidance from the Prime Minister on these matters.
During the meeting, CM Sharma presented PM Modi with a sandalwood idol of Goddess Durga, crafted by Jaipur-based artist Mohit Jangid.
The intricately designed artwork reflects detailed carving and traditional craftsmanship, showcasing India’s rich artistic heritage. The Jangid family has been engaged in sandalwood carving for four generations, with 11 members having received national awards.
The idol is regarded not only as a religious symbol but also as a representation of India’s cultural and artistic excellence.
